MANX GRAND PRIX!
The highlight of the Wonder Women Racing Team's season was the August event on the legendary Isle of Man, the Manx Grand Prix, which celebrated its centenary this year!
The toughest road racing circuit in the world is 60 kilometers long around the entire island, including significant elevation gain, and the race is run over four laps with a pit stop and refueling after two laps. Our competitor Veronika Hankocyová will tell you more about this, for whom this was already the third participation in this prestigious event.
Veronika Hankocyová
"This year, after a Covid break, I returned to racing in general after three years, but I was most looking forward to Man, where my heart is probably drawn the most. It is an extremely demanding and difficult circuit, which was unfortunately confirmed in the first two training sessions, when two riders crashed fatally. Despite this, we were still able to progress and the progress was noticeable every day. We had to focus a lot on the technique and chassis settings and the preparation of the Aprilia RS 660 in general, because the Isle of Man is so different from everything else we know that we encountered problems that we would not have anywhere else. I entered the race with the calm knowledge that I have a good bike and a good team. Thanks to this, I managed to complete all the laps almost identically at an average speed of around 105 mph, or roughly one hundred seventy kilometers per hour, and finish the MGP JUNIOR race in 28th place."
Veronika also won the BEST FEMALE RIDER trophy for the best female performance and confirmed that she belongs to the top Czech road racing. After all, three weeks before Mane, she won third place in the Junior Support class in Armoy, Ireland, on Barry Graham's borrowed Aprilia RS 660, and she started from tenth place! The Wonder Women Racing team continued in the Czech Republic at the beginning of September with an event in Dymokury, where Kristýna Jakesch went to represent the team colors. Technical reasons again eliminated her from the Supertwin class, but she won an excellent 7th place in the SPP400! The whole team will now meet at the last Czech race of the year, which is the Autumn Prize of Brno, which will be held at the end of September at the Masaryk Circuit in Brno.
We cordially invite you and look forward to seeing you if you decide to come and support us from 29.9.-1.10.2023!
